Has anyone had those grapes that come out only for a few weeks every year, the Cotton Candy Grapes? The first time I tried one it blew my mind just how much it tasted like cotton candy. My first thought, like always, was “is this natural?”. I’d really love to know more about this variety and why they taste like that. If anyone here knows more, drop me a line in the comments. I’m slightly scared of what you’ll tell me because I don’t want it to be ruined but I love learning more about food.
Similarly I’ve been noticing this new varietal in the markets called Organic Jelly Berry Grapes. And yes they taste just like grape jelly. I think they are essentially seedless Concord grapes. Which for me, is a dream come true. Because I LOVE buying Concord grapes at the farmer market when they come out, but the seeds are annoying. And with the baby, it’s not even an option anymore. These dark purple jelly grapes are what inspired this week’s recipes. I’ve been a long time fan of roasting grapes with rosemary and these are perfect for it.
Grapes & Rosemary

What I’m Loving This Week:
The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz: If you’ve read ( One of my personal bibles) The 4 Agreements, this is the same author giving his wisdom on relationships. My husband and I are going through some growing pains right now in our marriage. We’re at that point where the honeymoon is seriously over and we’re finding out why people say “marriage takes work”. It’s one of those things that until you’re in it, you can’t understand why it would take so much work! But the courting and the wedding was so much fun! On my end I’m really having to dive deep on how my childhood trauma and conditioning is playing out in my role in the relationship - important but difficult and ego triggering work. Turns out I’m not perfect, who knew! Granted I’m only on page 25, but I LOVE LOVE The 4 Agreements and I have high hopes for this book and the wisdom I’m already soaking up from it.
Tubby Todd All Over Ointment: BABY PRODUCT! I bought this stuff for Dean when he was tiny and had bad eczema. It’s great, took his rashy bits away quickly and it’s great for any kind of dry spot or irritation. But the real reason I’m loving it: It’s an amazing hydrating face mask for mama. I’ll either exfoliate or do a mud mask thing and then put a thick layer of this stuff on my face and let it soak in. It feels kind of weird and thick but if you suffer from dry skin like me, you’ll love the way it makes your skin look. I’m really into dewy skin and this gives you that all day long. And last but definitely not least it’s totally non toxic and clean.
Passionfruit in a smoothie: I live in Brooklyn so we’ve got great little bodegas and produce shops on every corner. One of the ones close to me often has passionfruits. I love anything with passionfruit, it’s one of my favorite flavors. I bought a few this week and have been adding the scooped out pulp to our morning smoothie. It instantly transports you to the tropics, just beautiful. If you see them, buy the wrinkly looking ones because those are the more ripe and therefore the sweeter ones. Cut it in half and scoop out the pulp and seeds.
NEXT WEEK you won’t be hearing from me because we’re going on vacation! We’re headed up to Lake Superior in Minnesota. I’m sure I’ll have lots to share on what we eat! Wishing everyone health and happiness in the kitchen XO Liv
