Instant Oatmeal
Remember instant oatmeal packets? I used to eat them all the time when I was kid - even though they were more like dessert with how much sugar is in them. But their convenience can’t be beat. Heres a recipe for a quick and easy DIY version. You can keep this in a big jar and just by adding boiling water you have a bowl of oats instantly. The difference here is that there’s no refined sugar and all the artificial flavoring is replaced with real flavor and real ingredients that are good for you. Adding a drizzle of nut butter and some fruit is also a great idea. This also makes an excellent breakfast for baby!
Makes about 6 servings
Ingredients:
2 cups of rolled oats
1 cup freeze dried fruit, crumbled a little with your fingers (i used raspberries)
1/4 cup coconut sugar
3 Tablespoons chia seeds
2 Tablespoons ground flax (optional)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of salt
Here’s How:
Put your oats into a blender or food processor and pulse until the oats are broken down but still has a little texture. Transfer to a big jar or bowl.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the oats and shake or toss to combine.
