Don’t they say next to a death in the family, moving is the most stressful life event? It always sounded dramatic to me. Because I’ve only ever moved from apartment to apartment with no child and no husband. Easy peasy. Well, like so many things after having kids - “I get it now”.
It didn’t quite dawn on me until about last week when the weekly, “what am I going to write about this week?” popped into my head, did I realize that I haven’t cooked really anything since I started packing. I still have my favorite non stick pan, 1 small sauce-pot and a rubber spatula but nearly everything else is in boxes. But with the boxes mounting up around me, and packing consuming my free time, It’s also zapping my creativity. It’s been a lot of scrambled eggs, with tortilla chips and hot sauce around here for dinner.
With that said I’ve decided to pause my newsletter for a bit. I anticipate lots of takeout and combinations of packaged things from Trader Joes in our near future. For my loyal subscribers- I’ve hit the “pause subscriptions” button, so you won’t be charged during this hiatus. Substack thinks of everything! And I promise that once I’m settled into the new kitchen and the creative juices are flowing again, you’ll see me back in your inbox.
See you all in the Fall… I’ve already got a fantasy of baked pasta with a creamy butternut squash sauce with sausage, sage and gooey mozzarella. But in the meantime savor all the tomato toasts you can stomach while they last. XO Liv
Good luck with the move! Hope it’s slow and steady.
Also moving this month with a 14 month old. I've moved to 7 different apartments as an adult but this time, woof. Hang in there, and welcome to New Jersey!
